This Privacy Policy explains how Bold Technology and AI handles information in the Sika Wura Android app.

What Sika Wura does

Sika Wura turns bank and mobile-money transaction alert SMS messages into a personal spending ledger. The ledger is stored on your phone.

Information the app reads

If you give Android permission, Sika Wura can read:

  • The sender of an SMS
  • The SMS text and the time it was received
  • Transaction details found in supported alerts, such as amount, currency, date, whether money was received or sent, fees, taxes, balances, counterparty, reference, channel, and narration

Sika Wura reads SMS messages only to import supported financial transactions, show your ledger, calculate spending totals, and create weekly or monthly spending summaries.

The app also stores the sources you choose to track. A source can include its display name, sender matching information, account type, masked account number, icon, and colour.

Android permissions

SMS permissions

READ_SMS lets the app read existing supported alerts for the period you choose. RECEIVE_SMS lets the app notice new alerts while automatic sync is enabled. These permissions are used for the app's main ledger feature.

Notifications

POST_NOTIFICATIONS lets Sika Wura show local weekly and monthly spending summaries. You can deny or revoke this permission. If balances are hidden or the app lock is enabled, the notification contains a prompt to open the app instead of the amounts.

Background and device permissions

RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED lets scheduled ledger and spending-summary work continue after the phone restarts when you have enabled the related settings. USE_BIOMETRIC lets Android verify your fingerprint, face, or device credentials when you choose app lock. Sika Wura does not receive or store your biometric information.

INTERNET and REQUEST_INSTALL_PACKAGES are present in the Android project for an update mechanism. The self-update feature is not active in Sika Wura, and the app does not use it to upload your ledger.

Where your information is stored

The ledger is stored in a SQLite database on your phone. Sensitive fields—the original SMS text and available and book balances—are encrypted with AES-256-GCM before they are stored. The encryption key is generated for your installation and kept in the Android Keystore. The key is configured to be available only while that device is unlocked.

Your app settings are also stored locally. These include options such as the selected theme, automatic sync, notification choices, backfill period, balance hiding, alert settings, and app-lock settings.

Your app-lock PIN is stored as a hash in the Android Keystore. Biometric checks are performed by Android.

Sharing and exporting

Sika Wura does not share your ledger automatically.

When you choose Copy, the app places the selected receipt on the device clipboard. When you choose Share or Export, the selected receipt or report is passed to the Android share target you choose. That app may store or process the information under its own privacy policy. The app can mask available and book balances in receipts, but payment amounts, fees, taxes, dates, references, and other selected details may still be included.

Third-party services

Bold Technology and AI does not use external analytics, advertising, crash-reporting, customer-support, cloud-backup, or server-side ledger-processing services for Sika Wura.

Sika Wura does not require an account and does not provide cloud synchronization. Bold Technology and AI does not receive your SMS messages or ledger from the app.

Android system services, including the Android Keystore, biometric prompt, notification system, clipboard, and share sheet, may process information as needed to provide those operating-system features. Their handling is governed by the device manufacturer, Android, or the app you choose as a share target.

Retention and deletion

Your ledger remains on your phone until you delete a source, use the data-wipe option in Sika Wura, clear the app's storage, or uninstall the app. Deleting a source deletes its linked transactions. The data-wipe option disables automatic sync and spending alerts, removes the local ledger, and resets the app's local data.

Because Bold Technology and AI does not receive the ledger, there is no server copy for us to delete.

Your choices

You can:

  • Deny or revoke SMS and notification permissions in Android settings
  • Turn automatic SMS sync on or off
  • Turn weekly and monthly alerts on or off
  • Hide balances in the app
  • Enable biometric or PIN app lock
  • Delete sources and their transactions
  • Wipe the local ledger

Turning off SMS permission or automatic sync stops automatic importing. You can still use the manual SMS-paste flow where available.

Security

Sika Wura uses local encryption for selected sensitive fields and Android security features for key storage and biometric verification. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure. Keep your Android device, screen lock, and system software protected.

Children

Sika Wura is not directed to children under 13, and Bold Technology and AI does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through the app.

Changes to this policy

Bold Technology and AI may update this policy when the app's data practices change. The effective date at the top will show when the current version took effect.
